Since 1975, Wei Sheng Steel has kept a finger on the pulse of the times, evolving from a hardware start to a leading player in structural steel processing, closely growing with Taiwan's industrial evolution. Over five decades, after witnessing countless changes, Wei Sheng Steel has remained committed to innovation and excellence. Our fifty-year journey, marked by innovation and numerous accolades, is not merely a milestone but a starting point, paving the way towards a prosperous and sustainable future.
In the late 1960s, Taiwan initiated an extensive infrastructure development plan. Establishments such as China Steel, CSBC, and numerous petrochemical enterprises rooted in Kaohsiung, cementing the city as Taiwan's industrial bastion.
Astutely tuning in to these industrial shifts, Mr. Shih-Huang Kuo founded "Wei Sheng Hardware Ltd." in Kaohsiung, strategically investing a borrowed capital of 250,000 New Taiwan Dollars.
The founder, Mr. Shih-Huang Kuo's uncle, pictured in their hometown of Cigu District, Tainan. In the background is Wei Sheng's very first truck, painted with the words "Wei Sheng Hardware." At the time, this modest vehicle shouldered all business and delivery tasks, bearing witness to Wei Sheng's growth.
1981 marked a significant milestone. Wei Sheng transitioned into a key inventory supplier, raising its capital to 30 million New Taiwan Dollars and being renamed as "Wei Sheng Steel Co., Ltd." The company pivoted to focus on supplying materials for public infrastructure projects, importing H-beams, not yet domestically produced, from South Korea, Japan, and South Africa.
In its early days, Wei Sheng's office was located on the first floor of a residential building. By 1984, with the company's continuous expansion, the office moved to a building adjacent to the Kaohsiung train station, marking the beginning of a more sizable workplace.
As the scale rapidly expanded, Wei Sheng Steel successively sought out suitable locations to accommodate the steadily increasing inventory.
As the company continued to grow in scale, with the staff count increasing to 20, it prompted a relocation to a commercial building in the city center on Po Ai 1st Rd.
Recognized by "CommonWealth Magazine," WeiSheng made its debut on the list of Taiwan's Top 500 Service Companies, ranking 284th. Since the recognition, the company has consistently made impressive strides on the list year after year.
The rapid expansion of Wei Sheng Steel has resulted in a significant capital increase to 100 million New Taiwan Dollars. This growth has not only consolidated the company's stronghold in the domestic market but also initiated international triangular trade between China, Vietnam, and Thailand.
